Solutions Engineer

About Vamo

Vamo is a high-growth search engine company to discover engineering talent from public code. It reads repos and contribution history, finds engineers that match a specific job description, and runs personalized outreach.

Customers include recruiting agencies and companies building their own engineering teams.

The role

The Solutions Engineer is the technical voice in the room for customer conversations, reporting to the CTO and embedded with GTM and Customer Success. The work spans three areas: supporting demos and supporting deals, owning onboarding for new accounts, and carrying what customers say back into the product.

Sales and demos

  • Run product demos for recruiters, agency leads, and founders.
  • Partner with GTM on discovery calls and scope what a customer is actually hiring for.
  • Run a customer's live job description during the call and explain the shortlist Vamo returns.
  • Handle technical questions on coverage, ranking, data sourcing, and email deliverability.
  • Support technical evaluations, pilots, and API integrations.

Onboarding and enablement

  • Own onboarding for new accounts: workspace setup, first job descriptions, search calibration, outreach configuration.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on GitHub signal, repo quality, stack matching, and what separates a strong candidate list from a weak one.
  • Write onboarding docs, guides, and enablement material so the GTM team can answer common technical questions without escalation.
  • Understand usage and step in when an account stalls, before it shows up as churn.

Product

  • Work closely with product and engineering to understand opportunities to improve the product.
  • Write feature requests that include the customer context and the workflow the feature has to fit.
  • Support testing releases before they ship and flag regressions.

Requirements

  • Deep curiosity to learn about engineering, AI, robotics, research, and data science, the people in those fields, and the operational challenges they face.
  • Fluent with AI tools. You use Claude, Cursor, or Codex to research problems, analyze data, and produce real output. Comfort connecting AI to tools via MCP, or the ability to pick it up fast.
  • Understand what a full-stack engineering team does day to day. Recognize common frameworks and tech stacks.
  • Able to learn the basics of any domain quickly, deep enough to build technical requirements with a customer in an unfamiliar field.
  • Curious and collaborative, who can learn by creating technical instructions, user guides, and enablement docs for others to follow.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, with a public profile that reflects some of your personal topics of interest.
  • Clear speaking and writing under live pressure. Demos happen on video calls with people who ask hard questions.

Helpful background

  • Experience in recruiting, staffing, or HR tech.
  • Prior sales engineering, solutions consulting, or technical support.
  • Have built your own MCP server or agent workflow.
  • Public repos or OSS contributions.

Interview process

1. Intro call with the CEO and CTO.

2. Technical conversation. Read an unfamiliar repo, using AI tools as you would on the job, and describe what the engineer behind it is good at.

3. Demo exercise. Present Vamo to a mock customer using a real job description.

4. Final conversation with the CEO.

Vamo is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
